What's up with PJ's?

Pajamas are like that old friend you never really think about until you need them. Most people tend to stick to the basics: cotton T-shirts and shorts or maybe flannel sets for the colder months. They're comfy, familiar, and let’s face it, probably a little frayed at the edges. And then there’s the “nothing at all” club, which has its own set of risks—especially when the doorbell rings at an unfortunate hour.

But what if everyone had the budget to splurge on pajamas? You’d probably see a lot more silk and satin around, right? These kinds of pajamas would turn nighttime into a glamorous affair, like starring in your own personal Hollywood movie every time you slip under the covers. Personally, I’d prefer silk PJs over silk sheets. I have bad memories of slippery sheets—I was in Vegas for a trade show once, and when I got to my hotel room, I ran to the bed, slid right off, and crashed into a table. Lesson learned.

Linen PJs could also be a contender, especially for those who crave that breezy, I-just-summered-in-the-Mediterranean look (you know, the one that says, "I own a yacht, but I don’t want to talk about it").

Cashmere sleepwear might be at the top of the wishlist. Because if you’re going to sleep, why not do it in the kind of luxury that makes you want to cancel all morning plans just to stay in bed? The downside, of course, is that you'd never want to leave the house, and every outfit after that would feel like a downgrade. Bamboo Sorona PJs could make a similar case at a fraction of the cost, without sacrificing quality or durability.

In the end, whether you're lounging in Target-brand flannel or silk that feels like butter, pajamas are the unsung heroes of your wardrobe. But if money were no object, you'd probably never sleep the same way again!
