What's black, white, and red, all over? A nun that falling down stairs. But you know what else is black, white, and red all over? A black, white, and red flannel shirt.                                                          And coincidentally, (or not), we'll be talking about flannel shirts today. Though, we're going to restrict our discussion to true flannel shirts. In other words, we're excluding the ones that resemble the patterns found on flannel shirts. And though we're tempted to jump right back to the 16th century, when flannel, as we know it, was first introduced, we will take a minute to remind you...

There are a lot of looks and styles in fashion that are merely trends. They have their day in the spotlight, but soon drift out of it. Then, seemingly unprompted, roughly 3-5 years later, they're back again. It's both a so very unpredictable yet so very predictable cycle.   But there are those select things that are timeless. Wool topcoats, a classic white men's dress shirt, and so on will last you for a lifetime because they are always in style. And beards (the facial hair ones...) kind of fall into that category. Or perhaps they most certainly aren't timeless....

There are many hot button issues in the world of men's fashion, which is ironic given that fashion is fundamentally supposed to be fun and about creativity, individuality, and personal expression. But let's avoid that topic for another day. Or perhaps never. Instead, let's focus on an item that makes some men's blood boil (and probably causes one to sweat): undershirts. And before you get all in a huff and start looking for things to take issue with, here's a spoiler alert: we're not going to give you the satisfaction of being able to argue in favor or in opposition...
